The Scheme

The works involved dividing the property with a new party wall to create 2 houses of equal size; excavating 5m below street level to create an additional 2 storeys below ground; and reconstructing the roof and intermediate floors to create additional living space in the loft and a mezzanine between the living room and the bedrooms. By realigning and reconstructing the buildings structure behind the retained elevations a total of 5 useable floors were created in place of the original 2.

The house has also been fully insulated and fitted with a heat recovery system to achieve an Eco-Homes classification of ‘Very Good’. It has state-of-the-art AV systems including a fully integrated wireless sound system, Lutron lighting, and an automated steam shower in the master en-suite. The staircase is designed to ‘float’ within the double height entrance void with open risers to maximise the natural light at each floor level
